Black Voices

Black Voices have gained a reputation as Europe’s finest female A Cappella quintet. Formed in 1987 by music director Carol Pemberton MBE, they have captivated global audiences with performances in the black oral tradition, with a unique repertoire of spirituals, traditional African, Caribbean and English folk songs, jazz, gospel, pop, and reggae. Black Voices have earned a worldwide recognition as a performance and teaching company, and has previously performed before members of the British Royal family and Nelson Mandela.

Frankie Armstrong and Friends

Legendary singer Frankie Armstrong has been acclaimed for her a cappella singing since the 1960s. Her repertoire includes both traditional and contemporary songs. She has made 10 solo albums, co-written three books, and has appeared and recorded with many luminaries of the Folk scene in both the UK and U S. For some of her performance she will be joined by friends to create glorious and haunting harmonies.

Michael Ormiston and Candida Valentino

Together with Candida Valentino, Michael Ormiston will be demonstrating the magnificence of overtone and undertone singing. Michael has been composing, performing, teaching and writing about music for many years. His throat singing has been used on Hollywood Films and on BBC’s acclaimed series Planet Earth.
